Job Description: Customer Solutions  Engineer(CSE) Location: Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA Type: contract role The Customer Solutions Engineer (CSE) is a pre-sales role focused on the development and sale of the Customer Premise Solutions (CPS ) that company offers to its customers (Data networking products, converged solutions, and network design including: Routing, Switching, IP Networks, and VPNs as well as IP Telephony and digital telephony solutions etc). The CSE is the technical sales support function responsible for working with the front line sales executives.They accompany sales reps on client calls in order to understand the cisco soultion and then create technical specs for delivery teams and CSE teams to conceptualize, qualify position and close complex CPS solutions. The role requires a mixture of business / sales ability and technical skills as the successful individual must be able to deal with high-level engagements with customers and sales and detailed engagements with client internal engineering resources. Specific activities include:
    • The focus will be building telephone infrastructure, IP telephony & Unified Communications
    • Working to support the Account Manager, the Account Facing CSE, and a CPS sales specialist to qualify and close CPS related sales opportunities
    • Understanding and communicating the functionality and benefits of the all the services offered within the CPS Solutions portfolio of offerings.
    • Ensuring engineering and technical integrity of CPS solutions provided to customers
    • Working with the Account Facing CSE to ensure the particular CPS solution fits within the customers overall IT environment and strategy
    • Communicating complex technical CPS solutions to non-technical client base
    • Communicating technical solutions to internal provisioning teams for implementation
    • Conducting presentations to internal and customer audiences
    Required Knowledge:
    In addition to technical skills a fully qualified CSE must demonstrate the use of management skills (e.g. communications, coaching, sales process etc) that are essential to a front line sales organization. The ideal candidate will have a broad knowledge of all the following areas, with in-depth technical knowledge in two or more categories:
    • Data networking products, complex data solutions, and network design including: Routing, Switching, IP Networks, and VPNs
    • Convergence technology including: Voice-over-IP networks, Voice-over-IP premise hardware and associated voice mail platforms
    • Telco Voice premise based products including Enterprise Voice Switch technology and associated voice mail platforms
    • It is beneficial that the individuals in the CSE position have complementary skills in other technology areas, thereby increasing the long-term flexibility for TELUS and for themselves. Additional consideration will be given to those candidates with demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Contact centre solutions
    • IT infrastructure platforms, including LINUX, UNIX and Windows based server environments, NAS and SAN data storage solutions and general data centre configurations.
    • Security solutions, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, anti-DOS platforms, anti-virus and other host based security solutions.
    • Wireless technology including: Wireless LAN, 1XRTT, and IEEE 802.11/IEEE 802.16.
    • Shared Workplace Applications, such as ePoint and MS Sharepoint
    • Instant Messaging Applications
    • Email Applications/Platforms, with specific focus on hosted multi-tentant implementations
    • Web Conferencing
    • Video-conferencing
    • previous experience translating business requirements into technical requirements is required
    • Cisco CCNA certification or higher
    • previous experience with Cisco configurator tools is desired
    • Sales/Account Planning training is a definite asset
    • 5+ years of related work experience in Telecommunications, Wireless and/or IT industry,
    • 2+ years in a pre-sales role.
    • Demonstrated experience of the sales process ? identifying and understanding customer technical needs relative to products and services
    • 7+ years of Java and J2EE experience
